What is an inactivity fee?

Copied to clipboard

The inactivity fee helps us cover maintenance costs, as well as monitor your account and keep it secure. It is applied when your account is inactive for three consecutive months and is charged in the following billing cycle.

Seasonal merchants are excluded from being charged an inactivity fee during the periods they will not be processing transactions.

An account is considered inactive when there has been no card sales transaction processing volume over a period of three consecutive months. As new accounts may take some time to set up, we begin measuring inactivity after the first full month has passed. This means that a newly opened account has a total of four months to begin processing before it is considered inactive.

I am already paying a monthly minimum. How is this different?

We aim to provide the same level and availability of service to all our merchants, regardless of processing volume. Monthly minimum fees are charged each month to cover the costs of servicing an account that has a low monthly transaction volume.

On the other hand, inactivity fees are only charged to those accounts that have no processing volume over a longer period of time. If you are actively processing transactions with Paysafe, you will not be charged.

How can I avoid the inactivity fee?

Inactivity fees cannot be removed, but processing a card sales transaction will automatically bring your account back to active status and the fee will not be charged again. Accounts will only be considered inactive after three consecutive months without a card sales transaction.

Can I get a refund?

In general, inactivity fees can’t be waived but can be avoided by processing one small transaction.

If you’re a seasonal merchant and have been charged an inactivity fee, get in touch with us to receive a one-time refund.
