Why am I still being charged if I am not processing transactions?
Even if you are not processing sales, you may continue to see charges on your account as long as your merchant account remains open and active.
A merchant account does not automatically close when you stop accepting payments, stop using your equipment, switch to another processor, or close your business. Until the account closure process is completed, some fees may continue to apply. If you no longer wish to use your account, or your business is temporarily inactive, you can either close it or request a seasonal hold. For more information about account closure and seasonal hold, please refer to the related articles below.
What fees can still be charged on an inactive account?
Depending on your account setup and services enrolled, you may continue to see charges such as:
- Monthly Service Fees
- PCI Compliance related Fees
- Fraud Management (Encytro) Fees
- Statement Fees
- Paper Statement Fees
- Regulatory Fees
- Annual Fees
- Other account maintenance fees outlined in your Merchant Agreement
Where can I check what I was billed?
You can review your monthly statement in your merchant portal usually between the 4th and 7th of each month. The statement provides a detailed breakdown of all fees billed during the month, including processing, monthly, regulatory, and additional/miscellaneous fees. If you receive paper statements, the same information is available on your mailed statement.
