I have an invalid batch sequence error on my PAX A80 terminal. What do I do?

The Invalid Sequence error on a PAX A80 usually means there's a mismatch in the transaction sequence, often related to an open batch from the previous day or an issue with batch closing/settlement. Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot the error.

Open Batch/Batch Sequence Mismatch

The most common cause is the terminal confusing the batch number with the previous day's batch. Here are a few ways to resolve this:

  • Clear the batch: Go to System Settings > Database, then clear the batch.
  • Adjust Batch Number/Device ID: Change the Device ID to a new 4-digit number or manually increment the batch number to match the last closed batch.
  • Force Batch Close: Try closing the batch manually via the FUNC menu (FUNC > BATCH > BATCH CLOSE).

Network/Communication Problem

  • Check your Ethernet/Wi-Fi connection: Ensure the terminal is connected properly, and network settings (like DHCP/Static) are correct for your network.
  • Transaction-specific error: Sometimes, a specific transaction (like a void) might be the issue. If it's an unsettled sale, try voiding it; if settled, process a refund.
