What are the rules and regulations for Dual Pricing?

Copied to clipboard

To be compliant with card brand guidelines and provide transparent customer experience, merchants enrolled in a Dual Pricing program must follow the requirements below:

  • Display both prices at the shelf or product level: you must visibly post two prices for each item: one for cash payments and one for card payments. This ensures customers know the cost difference before the transaction.
  • Use approved labels for card price: e.g., Card Price, Standard Price, or Amount

You may not use terms like ‘credit price’ or ‘credit/debit price’ as these don’t meet compliance standards.

  • No signage required: unlike other pricing models, Dual Pricing doesn’t require signage at the point of entry or point of sale. The shelf or item-level pricing is sufficient to meet card brand transparency requirements.
