How should I read a chargeback notification letter?

Copied to clipboard

Chargeback letters contain key details to help you understand the dispute and respond appropriately. Here's how to interpret the most important fields:

  • Notification Date: Indicates when the chargeback was issued and is located at the top of the letter.
  • Due Date: The deadline to submit supporting documents. This is critical - located near the top.
  • Dispute Reason Code: Explains why the chargeback occurred (e.g., fraud, non-delivery). Found in the top section.
  • Case Number: A unique identifier for the dispute. Located in the middle section of the letter.
  • Be aware, Dispute Alerts & Instructions: Highlights urgent actions or special handling requirements. Found at the bottom - read it carefully.
  • Comments: Offers context or guidance on what evidence to submit to challenge the chargeback effectively. Located in the bottom section.

Chargeback letters are meant to guide your response, but if you're unsure how to proceed, contact 800-327-0093 or email USPPdisputemanagement@paysafe.com for support.
