How to troubleshoot connectivity issues on my Valor terminal?

Follow the instructions below to troubleshoot any Internet issues you encounter with your Valor VL100, VL100 Pro, VP100, or VP550 terminal.

Wi-Fi connection

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines, located at the bottom of the home screen).
  2. Tap 7 Comm Config
  3. Tap Comm Config, then tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap the SSID (your Wi-Fi network name), then tap Configure.
  5. Enter the Wi-Fi Password, noting that it is case sensitive. To input lowercase letters or special characters, press the corresponding number or character key multiple times (for example, to get a lowercase 'a', press the number 2 button five times; for a '%' sign, press the '#' button five times).
  6. Tap OK to confirm, then press the Cancel button, and finally tap Connect.

Ethernet (wired) connection

Plug the Ethernet cable into the LAN port. Valor devices are designed with an auto-connect failback procedure that switches to an available alternate connection if the primary connection fails. A wired connection is generally recommended to avoid interference that can occur with Wi-Fi signals. If you were previously on Wi-Fi and then connected via Ethernet, you might need to manually select LAN from the connection icon.

If connectivity issues persist, reboot the device. For VL100 / VL110 / VP100 devices, this can be done by navigating to Menu Button > Host Utility > Reset Terminal.

Curl Error

  1. Reboot the device
  2. Run a test transaction
  3. Make sure the device is connected to the internet

Ethernet: Plug the cable into the LAN port underneath the device.

Wi-Fi: If it's the first-time booting, the screen may prompt "Do you want to connect to WIFI?" If prompted, select 1. Yes, Connect.

Otherwise, tap the star (★) icon → press 7 for Comm Config → press 2 for network options → select Wi-Fi → choose your SSID → enter your password → tap OK.

If issues persist, run a Ping Test:

  1. Tap the Menu icon (three lines).
  2. Scroll to Utility and select it.
  3. Tap Comm Config → Config → Ping.
  4. When prompted with “Network Domain www.google.com”, tap OK.

How do I power down the terminal?

Hold the Power button to power down the terminal.

How do I perform remote troubleshooting?

To run a remote troubleshoot of your terminal, simply select Remote Troubleshooting from the favorites menu.
