What is PCI Compliance and why does it matter?

Copied to clipboard

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard used to handle credit cards from major card brands, such as Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc. The standard aims to increase awareness and promote best practices in the handling of sensitive information to minimize identity theft and fraudulent transactions.  All merchants are required to comply with these standards to securely handle card data.

You can always check your compliance status by logging into your Paysafe Business Experience portal. There you’ll also be able to complete any required steps or download your attestation of compliance.

Compliance with PCI standards will help you to:

  • Protect customer card data and reduce fraud risk
  • Ensure you meet card-network and regulatory requirements
  • Avoid fines, chargebacks, and reputational damage

Our PCI program helps you identify and understand the necessary steps to fix vulnerabilities and keep your business compliant, such as filling out the Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).

Once you set up your account, you’ll be required to complete the Self-Assessment Questionnaire and undergo network scanning, if applicable, within 90 days.

To get access to our PCI service, log in to the Paysafe Business Experience portal and go to Merchant > Merchant Information > About My Business.
